Years ago, a great number of large companies realized that having numerous capable workers wasn't enough to increase their profits. It looked like something was not going too well... but what? What was wrong about the companies' organization? They were sure they could do better, but they didn't know what to change and where to make the respective changes. This is what triggered the idea of customer and employee satisfaction surveys and was implemented by managers throughout the modern world, subsequently being copied by numerous companies, until it became a trivial thing. These days, if you own or manage a company that comprises more than thirty workers, it's considered bad leadership not to ask them how they're doing once in a while. And critics who think you are not such a good manager if you don't try to get feedback from the people you work with (no matter if they are your workers or customers) are absolutely right. If you live in your own turtle shell and you are not aware of what's happening outside it, you will probably come to take the wrong course of action, and make decisions that may become quite unproductive for your institution. This is the reason why you should conduct surveys. How do you do it? What's the most carefree technique for giving questionnaires and collecting responses? The answer is quite simple, actually: just think - what's the widest distribution channel of them all? From where do you get your news? How are you able to read this article? (drums rolling...) - the Internet! So, in my point of view, the easiest method is creating and distributing an online survey... Prior to the Internet, it was actually quite hard to conduct surveys, as the whole process was to be done by mail, and you know how fast that is, and how secure it is. But since some entrepreneurs understood they could create survey tools and would be able to design a site based on it, the survey industry has changed radically. In 2010, hundreds of millions of surveys are taken online, and there's nothing to tell that they have found a better way. So this is why today's companies are conducting online surveys. In an era where "quick" is the key word, when we always try to make things quicker and better, and with rough competition in almost any field, companies just can not afford the luxury not to run online surveys. And there are many online tools available. Several of them are excellent, a few are really bad, and this is the reason why it's necessary to know which one to use. But this will be the main issue of my next article. Until then, have a nice day!
